Dragon boats
The Dragon Boat Festival is an ancient Chinese tradition that originated from the efforts of the people from Chu kingdom to save the poet Tsu Yueen by boats. Nowadays dragon boat races are most popular in the middle and downstream of the Yangtze River. Dragons are narrow and long boats, decorated with dragon head in front and a dragon tail in the back. They are painted mostly in red and black, but there are all other colors too. The beginning of the race is given by drums, after which the teams of each of the dragons paddle bravely to first cross the finish line.
Dragon boats have long passed the borders of China as an exciting form of group adventure, and from 2019 thanks to the „Dragon Boats“ project ROBG-399, funded under INTERREG V-A, Romania – Bulgaria, will create a new tourist product in the Danube between Bulgaria and Romania.
4 twenty passengers dragon boats with all the necessary equipment and crew will help 3 organizations from Vidin and Calafat to create 10 unique Danube festivals, organize a Dragon Boat Triathlon from Rabisha Lake to Belogradchik to do more sports and promotional events throughout the year and long after.
